On the Road

Once a sculpture has been expertly packaged and despatched it is then off to ultimately be delivered to either a gallery, gift shop or furniture store. Of course, we can only send pieces out to retailers that have placed orders for them and to achieve this has meant that at some point in the vast majority of incidences that they have initially seen Edge Sculpture at a Trade Show. Trade Shows have been for decades is the only real way to be able to show and demonstrate a product, in the flesh so to speak, to an audience of speculative buyers that are attending such a show to find something new and present it onto the high street to hopefully gain custom.

Edge Sculpture is now over 15 years old and yes, we have attended many many trade shows indeed and what a fantastic journey it has been. In the early days it was both exciting and yet daunting at the same time and because Edge was very new, we also had so many degrees of emotion towards the pieces, from shocked and super keen to pretty horrified. But any reaction is a positive and fortunately interest for the range blossomed.

We have never taken the easy option believing that it you are chasing a goal then you have to work for it. This has meant that we often have to assume different working roles to suit. We have to be able to efficiently pack and drive large vans. We have to physically unpack and assembly a multitude of components to build a stand in a short period of time. We have to attend the show with maximum energy and engage with any visitors we have and be able to answer all of their questions and issues and try to present ourselves in the most professional way we can.

The logistical effort to plan and build a stand at a trade show is huge, particularly if you want your presentation to look good. We have always tried our level best to make sure that our displays look bold and striking, which can only happen if your team are all as committed as each other to make that happen, which certainly is the case with Edge Sculpture.

In the journey to grow Edge Sculpture has meant that not only have we attended Trade Shows in the United Kingdom but also in Germany, France and now latterly the United States and Canada. It is incredibly humbling to talk to stockists and customers in different countries and hear them have the very same opinions and enthusiasm for the pieces. It can be quite a surreal experience but flattering, nevertheless.
